Maya Quetzali Gonzalez is a Texas-grown/Brooklyn-based artist, arts worker, and organizer.
Maya Quetzali Gonzalez’s directing and choreography has been seen at SheNYC, The Tank, Judson Arts, The Brick, and UCLA’s Dancing Disability Lab. As an associate/assistant, she has worked at Playwrights, Signature, MCC, Roundabout, and twice on Broadway. She is an Associate Member of SDC.
Maya is an emerging leader in equitable funding practices. Until recently, she was the Grants Manager for the MAP Fund. Since joining MAP in 2020, Maya managed the distribution of more than $8 million to performing artists across the country at the forefront of innovative and equitable creation practices. Maya has also served as reviewer/panelist for organizations such as New York State Council on the Arts and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and is currently a consultant for YoungArts. She is a member of Women of Color in the Arts and is on the board of IndieSpace.
Maya is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she was a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar. She is a volunteer with Jane's Due Process and was previously an organizer with the Sunrise Movement.
