Maya is a textline and hotline volunteer, as well as a textline supervisor, with Jane's Due Process, an organization that helps young people in Texas access abortion and birth control.
THE SUNRISE MOVEMENT
I am an organizer with the Sunrise Movement, a youth-led movement for climate justice.
In the 2020 general election, I was the Texas phonebank lead, working primarily on the campaigns of Julie Oliver and Mike Siegel and led swing state phonebanks, including one with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Julian Castro. I spoke to 700+ people at the 2020 general election campaign launch and to another few thousand (including Mark Ruffalo) on an Instagram live. I helped develop and execute our deep canvassing for the Georgia Senate runoffs, and helped win three city council seats in Dallas' 2021 municipals. I also walked a couple hundred miles to demand good jobs for all as part of the Generation on Fire. Reach out to me if you want to get involved!
